Earlier we started to consider a new strong and very important gambit: 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Bc5 4.d3 h6!? 5.b4! (Evans-Bukayev gambit). We remember, why it isn’t a variation of Evans gambit.

Analogously, 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Bc5 4.d3 h6!? 5.0-0 a6!? 6.b4! isn’t a variation of Evans-Bukayev gambit, it is a new very strong and important gambit. We’ll call it as “Evans-Bukayev gambit deferred”. First of all, it should be noted, that after 6.c3 d6!AN 7.d4! ed 8.cd Ba7 (or 8…Bb6) black has an enough counter-play, and the game is equal.

Paragraph 1: 6... Ba7

[The way 6…Bb4 7.c3 leads to white’s advantage! It is clear even after analysis of Evans-Bukayev gambit (5.b4! Bb4! 6.c3).] 7.b5! ab! 8.Bb5 (White stands slightly better.) 8…Nd4 9.Nd4 Bd4 10.c3. White stands slightly better.
